Yes - all flower deliveries to the West Island, including Baie D’Urfe, are prepared and shipped from our Pointe-Claire flower shop even if you are placing your order online.

If you live in or are visiting Baie D’Urfe, dropping into our store to browse is easy. From Baie‑D’Urfé to Westmount Florist in Pointe‑Claire, you're looking at roughly 10 to 11 km, with travel times ranging from about 7 minutes by car, 10 minutes via train, to around 13 minutes using a rideshare service, depending on traffic and your chosen mode of transportation.

Sunflowers are known as long lasting blooms. Fresh-cut sunflowers typically last about 6 to 12 days in a vase, depending on the variety and how well they’re cared for. Here's how to make them last as long as possible: 

Trim the Stems
Cut the stems at a 45° angle, about 1 inch from the bottom, using sharp scissors or a knife. Re-trim every few days.

Remove Leaves Below Water Line
Strip any leaves that would sit in water — they rot quickly and encourage bacterial growth.

Use Clean Water & a Clean Vase
Change the water every 2–3 days, and wash the vase thoroughly to prevent bacteria buildup.

Use Flower Food (or a DIY Version)
Use the packet that we provide with your bouquet or make your own:

• 1 tsp sugar
  
  
• A few drops of bleach or lemon juice
  
  
• A few drops of vinegar

Keep Them Cool
Avoid placing them in direct sunlight, near heat sources, or in drafty areas. Sunflowers like indirect light and moderate temperatures.

Support Heavy Heads
Some sunflower varieties have large heads that droop. If needed, support them with floral wire or by placing them among sturdier stems.

Our floral arrangements feature different types of dahlias which our florists strategically use based on their form, structure, and visual impact. Typically we carry Ball, Mini Ball Pompon, and Dinnerplate Dahlias.

Starting as soon as the end of July and up until Mid - September you can request floral arrangements or bouquets featuring Dahlias. Give us a call and we’ll let you know what types of Dahlias we have on hand.

Dahlias usually begin to show up in our Westmount and Pointe-Clarie stores in late July. This pretty much mirrors when they start to appear in backyard gardens!

Our Dahlias are locally sourced, which determines when we have them in our stores. Give us a call and we'll let you know if either of our stores are Dahlias you can add to your bouquet or arrangement.
