Named after: From the Greek anthos (flower) and oura (tail), referring to the flower’s spadix, which looks like a tail.
Latin/Scientific name: Anthurium andraeanum (most common species used in floristry).
Native to: Tropical regions of Central and South America, particularly Colombia and Ecuador.
Flowering period: Year-round under tropical conditions, though peak blooming occurs in summer.
Vase life: Excellent vase life of 2–3 weeks.
