Forsythia

Symbolism: Forsythia is often associated with spring, renewal, and good luck in many Western/European cultures. In Asian & East Asia it is associated with cleansing, health and new beginnings. 

Description: Forsythias are a genus of deciduous flowering shrubs that belongs to the olive family. The shrub's upright, arching form is known for their long branches filled with brilliant yellow blooms early in the spring. 

Named after: William Forsyth (1737–1804), a Scottish botanist and one of the founders of the Royal Horticultural Society in Britain.

Latin/Scientific name:  Forsythia

Native to: Native to Eastern Asia and Southeastern Europe

Flowering period: Early Spring

Vase life: 4 – 10 Days - woody branches need to be 

Popular use in floral arrangements or bouquets: Forsythia's slender, grayish-wood-toned stems and delicate yellow blossoms make it a popular filler in garden-inspired and nature-themed arrangements. Its silhouette is both airy and slightly spiky, adding texture without overwhelming the design.

Forsythia is considered non-toxic to both cats and dogs, according to the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
